Seasonal Deformation
Using differential interferometry, we implement a new type of analysis that exploits a time series of coherent SAR acquisitions. In this example, we detect periodic ground motion in the San Jacinto Valley in Southern California. |

Los Angeles, California (PALSAR)
We present results derived from two coherent acquisitions of PALSAR data acquired over the Los Angeles area of Southern California. |

Subsidence in Vegetated Areas
Neva Ridge is studying the capability of SAR interferometry (InSAR) to provide ground motion measurements in regions of significant vegetation. Using L-band PALSAR data provided by the Alaska Satellite Facility, we are investigating surface signatures associated with mining activity in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The displacement image shown here contains several features which indicate ground subsidence on the order of 25 centimeters, during a 2-year period. The centers of some of these features are decorrelated, presumably due to aliasing as a result of motions that are too fast to measure. The current hypothesis is that these features are associated with ongoing long wall mining operations. We are currently working with a state agency to better understand these measurements and to correlate them with known mining operations. |

Baldwin Hills, California
Using the phase information contained within a SAR image, it is possible to measure topographic height and height changes using SAR interferometry techniques. In this example, we observe uplift near Inglewood oil field in Baldwin Hills, California. This upward motion may be the result of an injection process. |

Crandall Canyon Mine, Utah
In August 2007, collapses at the Crandall Canyon coal mine in Utah killed 6 miners and 3 rescuers. In support of the resulting Mine Safety and Health Administration investigation, Neva Ridge performed Differential Interferometric SAR (DifSAR) processing and analysis. |

Bam, Iran Earthquake
Using the phase information contained within a SAR image, it is possible to measure topographic height and height changes using SAR interferometry techniques. In this example, we observe the geological changes due to a magnitude 6.6 earthquake which struck near Bam, Iran on December 26, 2003. |

Motorhome Experiment
Synthetic Aperture Photogrammetry (SAP) is an incoherent synthetic aperture technique that allows one to perform a number of optical processes that can synthesize a much larger lens. We present here a demonstration and simulation of this technique using a motorhome parked within a forest. |
